UCP PRESS open access policy

Open access policy

Universidade Católica Editora (UCP PRESS) integrates the Open Access Policy of Universidade Católica Portuguesa publishing monographic editions and scientific journals.

Open Access policies are being developed worldwide following the advances in information technology over the internet during the first decade of twentieth century. The possibility of making scientific knowledge accessible to everyone and everywhere in the world has become crucial.

The exponential increase in the recognition of scientific work and its authors and institutions, and the social and economic impact of science, require full commitment on the Open Science concept. UCP PRESS has been associated with this change implementing an active policy of offering publications in Open Access. To learn more about Open Access policies in Portugal, access Open Science.

Scientific validation

Proposals and manuscripts submitted to Universidade Católica Editora (UCP PRESS) are evaluated by the editorial team based on their experience of more than 20 years of academic editorial work. All UCP PRESS publications also require a rigorous peer review, carried out by the coordinators of the various collections or at the initiative of the editorial team.

The decision to publish is generally based on the opinions of at least two independent reviewers. The reviewers are experienced academics who are asked to respect the ethical guidelines for peer review developed by the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics)   in its current version, ensuring the integrity of the academic research published by UCP PRESS.
