Cátedra Manuel Sérgio - Desporto, Ética e Transcendência collection is a vehicle for the projection of the activity of the lecture that bears its name, established at the Institute of Religion Studies of the Portuguese Catholic University with the support of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, I.P. The collection aims to open future lines for the thought of this singular figure of our contemporaneity, in an interdisciplinary context. Following the humanist perspective of Manuel Sérgio, it is assumed that sport and sporting cultures are a privileged laboratory for understanding the experience of the "unfinished" human being, in the search for self-improvement and the desire to "give the best of oneself".
