Founded in 1998 at the headquarters of the Catholic University of Portugal in Lisbon, UCE has, until 2020, around 900 published titles written by more than 400 authors. In the last three years, it reached an editorial pace of over 60 works published annually, keeping high editorial quality of the editions.
In 2010 UCE expands its brand and UCE-Porto is created, which, at the end of 2020 summs more than 140 published works.
2014 marks the transition to digital format through the regular edition of e-books marketed on various digital platforms. (link em “digital platforms” para “distribution of e-books” nesta página)
Focusing on the edition of hybrid books, both in physical format and in e-book, allowed to adjust printing runs to market demands, turning the book available in open access after a period of two years.
This is a strategic option for the future of UCE, which also keeps the commitment to consolidate:
- editions in English;
- availability of monographs and open access journals in partnership with UCP Libraries Network;
- presence in main international directories of scientific publishers.
