This work seeks to make known the history of the Movement for the Renewal of Religious Art (Movimento de Renovação da Arte Religiosa - MRAR), making a detailed portrait of its action in the 1950s and 1960s. Wishing to make the historical trajectory of this movement closer and more comprehensible, it was considered that the approach in the narrative style would be the most appropriate. The events are thus presented and articulated in a chronological order, often resorting to the quotation of comments, thoughts and ideas expressed at the time, as a way of guaranteeing the richness of the original discourse and guaranteeing it a genuineness that could be falsified by the use of our own words.
